The Yard Retreat is a family business built by people who take pride in doing the work themselves.
I grew up around carpenters. My family built things. That was just how it was.
When I got older I went my own direction. Culinary school, then sixteen years as a professional chef. I loved that work. But the instinct to build something with my hands never left.
Eventually I made my way back to it. I started a custom woodworking business. And the whole time, through all of it, I kept working on my own backyard. Not as a project. Just because I wanted a space I was actually proud of. A place where people wanted to stay after dinner. Somewhere that felt like an extension of the house, not just a patch of grass with a gas grill on it.
People started asking questions. Friends who came over wanted to know what I used, who made it, how hard it was to put together. That happened enough times that I started paying attention.
That is how The Yard Retreat started. Not with a business plan. With a backyard and a lot of conversations.
What We Actually Do Here
We are an authorized Sundance Outdoor Living dealer for motorized louvered pergolas. For outdoor kitchens, fire features, and everything in between, we help you find the right structure for your space, built by manufacturers who stand behind what they sell.
But the product is only part of it.
The customer we built this store for does not want to be sold to. They want someone who can tell them the truth about what fits their space, what installs cleanly, and what is actually worth the money. They have done their research. They know what questions to ask. They just want honest answers from someone who has been through it.
That is what we are here for. A phone call, an email, a conversation before anything ships. We would rather spend thirty minutes helping you figure out the right product than have you receive something that does not work for your yard.
