Your Sundance All Season Pergola ships crated direct from the factory in Ogden, Utah with all components pre-cut and labeled for your confirmed dimensions. The crate includes the aluminum frame components, louver panels, gutter system, motor and electronic controls, remote, rain sensor, all hardware, and full installation instructions. Stamped engineered drawings are available on request. The complete warranty documentation ships with every order. One item worth noting: the motor requires a standard outdoor electrical outlet within reach of the structure. If your installation site does not already have one, factor in an electrician visit before your delivery date. What do I need to have ready before my pergola arrives?
Two things need to be in place before your crate arrives. First, your base. Freestanding systems anchor to a concrete pad or deck using post base brackets and the appropriate fasteners for your surface, Titan HD anchors for concrete, Headlock screws for wood. If you are pouring new concrete footings, have that done and cured before your delivery window. Attached systems that connect to your home's ledger board need the ledger location confirmed and cleared. Second, your electrical. The motor runs on a standard outdoor electrical outlet. Most homes have one on the exterior wall near the patio. If yours does not, a licensed electrician can add one in a half day. What happens if something arrives damaged?
Inspect every piece before the freight driver leaves. If you see damage to the crate or any component, note it specifically on the Bill of Lading before you sign. Take photos. Do not sign a clean Bill of Lading for a damaged shipment. Once the driver leaves with a clean signature, the freight claim becomes significantly harder to resolve. Contact us at 931-442-4741 immediately and we will open the claim with the carrier and coordinate replacement components with Sundance directly. Sundance manufactures everything in-house, which means replacement parts come from the same factory floor that made your original order. Most freight damage claims are resolved with component replacement rather than a full reshipping of the system.
Can I add lighting, heaters, or a misting system after the fact, or does it have to be ordered with the unit?
The Sundance gutter system is designed with built-in accessory mounts specifically so upgrades can be added at any time. LED strip lighting, gutter screens, and misting tubing all mount directly into the gutter channel without additional hardware. Integrated overhead heaters, the ceiling fan beam, and RGB lighting all retrofit easily after installation, with no extra components typically needed. The one exception is puck lights, which are pre-cut and pre-wired into the beam at manufacture, so adding them later means drilling holes and running wiring by hand. If puck lights are something you might ever want, decide that upfront; everything else you can add as your budget and comfort with the space grows, and we will walk through all of it during your design consultation.
What does the warranty claim process actually look like?
Any warranty claim must be submitted in writing to Sundance within 30 days of discovering the defect. The claim needs to include your installation date, the address of the installed structure, the name and contact information of the installing dealer, and a copy of the invoice. Send claims to info@SundanceLR.com. The territory manufacturer handles all warranty claims directly, not a third-party call center. For the ten-year component warranty, Sundance covers the operating system, bearings, brackets, gutter, and pivot bar from the date installation is completed. The five-year electronics warranty covers the motor, controls, and electrical box from that same date. Keep your installation completion date and invoice on file. We recommend photographing the finished installation the day it is complete as documentation.
Can this be attached to my house, or does it have to be freestanding?
Both configurations are available and both are common. The house-mount option uses a concealed ledger that attaches to your home's exterior wall. It gives a clean integrated look and is the right choice when you want the pergola to read as an extension of the house rather than a standalone structure. The freestanding option uses four posts anchored to your base and works anywhere on your property regardless of proximity to the house. Roof-mount configurations are also available for structures attached to an existing roof. The choice between attached and freestanding affects your permit situation in most counties. Attached systems that connect to your home's ledger are typically classified as structural modifications, which means a permit is required regardless of size.
